Weed chocolate bars are delicious! That’s the best way to describe these awesome little bars. They’ve made the news quite a bit recently, mainly because of the new trend towards eating cannabis rather than smoking it. As the name implies, these products are made from cannabis. You should be able to buy weed chocolate bars at your local dispensary, but this guide will teach you how to make them! There are benefits to making weed chocolate bars at home which we will go over later in this post. We also include the secret recipe that we’ve used countless times to make cannabis chocolate at home.

The main ingredient needed to make this recipe is Cannabis Butter.

What is Cannabis Butter

What is cannabis butter? To the beginners, the cannabis-infused edible ingredient can seem overwhelming. Cannabis butter is simply butter that has had cannabis added to it. This cannabis added to the butter will allow you to turn any recipe that includes butter into an edible recipe! Edible butter can be made from cannabis flower, or all of the different kinds of concentrates.

When the THC is infused into the butter, it gives it the scent and taste of cannabis. However, not all strains of cannabis give out the same aroma and taste so depending on the strain you use it the taste and smell might be slightly different.

How to Decarboxylate Cannabis

To Make cannabis butter, you will need to decarboxylate the cannabis first. The basic explanation on why decarboxylation is important is as follows; For edible cannabis to have an effect, we need to do a process that allows cannabis to become bioavailable meaning that it will have an effect when eaten. This is the quick three-step guide on decarboxylation:

Step one: Preheat oven to 240 F (116 Celsius)

Step two: Grind however much cannabis you would like and spread evenly on a baking sheet. You can also use kief if you would like.

Step three: Place the baking sheet on the middle rack for 45 minutes. If you are using kief, only put in the oven for 30 minutes.

Once you have decarboxylated the cannabis, you are ready to make cannabis butter. There is a great guide here on how to make cannabis butter.

Store-Bought Weed Chocolate bars VS Homemade Weed Chocolate Bars

Well, the main point is that homemade edibles are generally stronger than store bought edible. Most places have regulations that limit the amount of THC that is allowed in a package of edible. Moreover, the edibles you buy in a store are going to be much more expensive than the edibles you make at home. That’s important for several reasons, but most importantly, that means that if you make edibles at home you are going to get more value for your dollar because you’re using less cannabis to get a higher amount of THC. To put things in perspective, a dispensary might sell a pack of edibles for $20 that has 10-30mg of THC. In one gram of mid-grade cannabis, there is over 150mg of THC. If you’re willing to go through making your own edibles at home, you’re going to save money and you will also have the option to make the edibles more potent than they would be if they were bought from a dispensary.

Another great benefit to making weed chocolate bars at home is the fact that you can control exactly what goes into them. Unlike many of the store bought edibles, you will be able to pronounce every ingredient that goes into them. You will also be able to make these organic or however your diet requires.

Where to Buy Weed Chocolate Bars

You can buy weed chocolate bars, and many different kinds of edibles for that matter, at your local dispensary. There are some licensed cannabis edible distributors online you will probably be able to find, but we can not facilitate the illegal sale of cannabis products.

How Long Will Weed Chocolate Bars Last?

How long will weed candy bars last in your home? The answer depends on where you store them. If you store them in the fridge then they will last quite a long time. We recommend keeping them in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. These chocolates can last for months in the freezer but if you’re storing them in the fridge you should try and finish them within a week or two.

How Potent Should I Make My Weed Chocolate Bars?

If you are a beginner and you’re wondering “how potent should I make my weed edibles”, there are many things to consider. This is especially true if you are just starting out with your own personal consumption of cannabis edibles. A general potency recommendation for beginners is no more than 25mg of THC. It’s good to start slow with edibles and work your way up to a higher potency as needed. You can have a negative experience if you consume too much.

Another good way to find out the potency right for you is to go to a forum dedicated to edibles. There are great communities on Reddit where you will find dozens of active conversations about edible potency recommendations, as well as any questions people have about edibles. Remember: none of the people on reddit will know the exact amount right for you but it could be good to talk to some other people who are also going through what you are.
